Michel Monett

Michel Monett is a self-taught painter now based in Edmonton, Alberta, working in acrylic and gel medium. His practice is centred on the boreal forest — its rock formations, water sources, and the behaviour of light across natural surfaces and materials. Monett began his development as a painter through collaborative drawing sessions with a group of artists, working from sketches and studies of the human form. This foundation led him toward landscape painting, with the boreal forest as his primary subject.
