West End Gallery opened its first doors in 1975 at 156 Street and 95th Avenue — in the heart of Edmonton's west end, the neighbourhood that gave the gallery its name. It was here that Dan and Lana Hudon built the foundation of what would become one of Canada's longest-running commercial art galleries.
In 1979, the gallery moved to 123 Street and Jasper Avenue, bringing the growing collection closer to downtown Edmonton and the city's vibrant cultural scene.
Five Decades of Canadian Art Excellence
As one of Canada's longest-running commercial art galleries, West End Gallery has proudly showcased the finest examples of Canadian art since 1975. We connect collectors and enthusiasts with exceptional works that reflect the richness and diversity of Canadian creativity — from photorealism and abstract painting to figurative, landscape, still life, and blown glass.
Founded by Dan and Lana Hudon in Edmonton's west end, the gallery quickly grew into one of Western Canada's most respected cultural institutions. Today, their son Matthew and his wife Jennifer carry the torch as second-generation owners, honouring the legacy their family built while adapting for a new era of art collecting.
Our story is one of family, trust, and an unwavering commitment to the artists who make Canada's creative landscape extraordinary.

A Family Gallery
A Second Generation of Stewardship
West End Gallery is more than a business — it's a family. Dan and Lana's two sons grew up surrounded by art, and in 2005 their youngest, Matthew, joined the gallery full-time. In 2021, Matthew and his wife Jennifer became the gallery's owners, bringing fresh energy and a vision for making Canadian art more accessible to a broader audience.
Matthew is dedicated to creating an online experience that is just as engaging as visiting the gallery in person. Curatorial descriptions have been refined to be more inclusive — ensuring that all collectors, including those who are visually impaired, can experience artwork through vivid and thoughtful words.
