About the Artwork

The Alberta Bears by Peter Wyse is a significant painting in many ways. Commissioned as a personal gift, Wyse painted a one-of-a-kind work of art through the input of the recipient's friends and family.

Nestled beneath Ursa Major,  is a tender portrayal of a grandparent's protective embrace, depicted through the heartwarming configuration of two stately black bears and their golden-hued cubs. Each was carefully positioned to form a subtle heart shape, with the grand bears encircling them with love and security.

Peter added personal symbols representing the unique identities of granddaughters Bea (Bee) and Rose (Alberta Rose). Every element has a story to tell, and the details are applied carefully, bringing the characters to life. It's an original, depicting a tale of love, compassion, and pride, reminding us of Canadian art's significance and preserving our loved ones' stories.
