About the Artwork
Sur le Chemin du Plateau is a 24" × 30" oil on canvas painting by Raynald Leclerc. The composition presents a rural road passing houses, bare trees, shrubs, open ground, and a distant band of water. The work is on a 3/4" canvas stretcher and is presented framed.
The road enters from the lower left and leads toward houses in the middle distance. Bare trees and shrubs occupy the centre and right foreground, while distant water and low landforms appear along the horizon. Thick paint creates raised surfaces in the road, fields, buildings, and sky.

Accessibility Description
The painting is a horizontal rural landscape. The upper background contains a blue sky with broad areas of pale pink, white, and grey. A distant band of water and low landforms extends across the horizon. In the middle distance, several houses and outbuildings sit among open fields and leafless trees. A pale yellow building with a dark roof stands near the right of centre, while a barn-like structure appears on the left. A road begins in the lower left foreground and curves back toward the houses. The road is painted with light blue, grey, cream, and brown strokes. Shrubs and bare branches fill the lower centre and right foreground, with red, brown, purple, and dark green marks. Yellow and green fields surround the road and buildings. The paint is thick and raised, especially in the sky, field, and brush areas. The artwork is presented in a black frame with a white liner. The artist’s signature appears in the lower left corner.

Artwork Care
CARING FOR YOUR ARTWORK
Display
Hang artwork away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and air vents. UV exposure causes fading over time — UV-protective glazing is recommended for works on paper and photography. Avoid hanging artwork above fireplaces or in bathrooms where heat and humidity fluctuate.
Cleaning
Dust frames gently with a soft, dry cloth. Never use household cleaners, water, or solvents on the artwork surface. For oil paintings, a soft-bristle brush can be used lightly to remove surface dust. Professional cleaning is recommended for valuable or delicate pieces.
Temperature & Humidity
Maintain a stable environment — ideally 18–22°C (65–72°F) with 40–55% relative humidity. Rapid changes in temperature or humidity can cause warping, cracking, or flaking. In Alberta’s dry climate, a humidifier can help protect your collection during winter months.
Handling & Moving
Always handle artwork with clean, dry hands or cotton gloves. Carry framed works by the sides of the frame — never by the hanging wire. When transporting, wrap in acid-free tissue or soft blankets and keep upright. For valuable pieces, professional art handlers and custom crating are recommended.
Storage
Store artwork upright in a cool, dry, dark space. Use acid-free materials for wrapping. Never store artwork in attics, basements, or garages where temperature and humidity are uncontrolled.
Insurance
We recommend insuring your art collection. An up-to-date appraisal (every 2–3 years) ensures proper coverage. West End Gallery offers professional appraisal services — please enquire for details.
