About the Artwork
L’apéro is a 36" × 24" oil on canvas completed in 2025 by Robert Savignac, presenting a garden table set with wine and glasses within a densely planted residential setting.
The composition is organised around a round table draped in a pale cloth, positioned slightly right of centre and surrounded by yellow café chairs. On the tabletop, a wine bottle, two filled glasses, and a shallow dish establish a clear focal point. The table sits within a garden path that leads back toward a white house with warm-toned window trim, partially screened by flowering shrubs and a low fence.
Surrounding plantings are rendered with thick, direct brushwork, combining greens with passages of pink, yellow, blue, and orange. A large ceramic vessel at left and a blue container at right act as colour anchors within the scene. The scale of the work allows the table setting to read clearly from a distance, while close viewing reveals layered paint handling across foliage, fabric, and architectural elements. The framed presentation offers a finished, ready-to-hang work.

Accessibility Description
A vertical-format painting shows a garden scene with a round table covered by a light-coloured cloth positioned in the right foreground. On the table are a green wine bottle with a label, two wine glasses filled with red wine, and a shallow dish. Yellow café chairs surround the table. A narrow garden path runs from the lower centre toward the background, bordered by grass and flowers. To the left of the path is a large tan ceramic vessel beside blue and white flowers. A low, pale fence stands behind the path, partially covered by pink flowering vines. In the background, a small white house with orange-brown window trim is visible, surrounded by dense green trees and shrubs. Bright green foliage fills much of the upper portion of the painting. The artist’s signature appears near the lower edge.

Artwork Care
CARING FOR YOUR ARTWORK
Display
Hang artwork away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and air vents. UV exposure causes fading over time — UV-protective glazing is recommended for works on paper and photography. Avoid hanging artwork above fireplaces or in bathrooms where heat and humidity fluctuate.
Cleaning
Dust frames gently with a soft, dry cloth. Never use household cleaners, water, or solvents on the artwork surface. For oil paintings, a soft-bristle brush can be used lightly to remove surface dust. Professional cleaning is recommended for valuable or delicate pieces.
Temperature & Humidity
Maintain a stable environment — ideally 18–22°C (65–72°F) with 40–55% relative humidity. Rapid changes in temperature or humidity can cause warping, cracking, or flaking. In Alberta’s dry climate, a humidifier can help protect your collection during winter months.
Handling & Moving
Always handle artwork with clean, dry hands or cotton gloves. Carry framed works by the sides of the frame — never by the hanging wire. When transporting, wrap in acid-free tissue or soft blankets and keep upright. For valuable pieces, professional art handlers and custom crating are recommended.
Storage
Store artwork upright in a cool, dry, dark space. Use acid-free materials for wrapping. Never store artwork in attics, basements, or garages where temperature and humidity are uncontrolled.
Insurance
We recommend insuring your art collection. An up-to-date appraisal (every 2–3 years) ensures proper coverage. West End Gallery offers professional appraisal services — please enquire for details.
