About the Artwork
Fleurs Sauvages is an oil on canvas by Robert Savignac on canvas, positioning a dense foreground garden of orange lily-like blooms and purple flowering spires before two adjoining houses painted in pale blue and violet.
Savignac builds the composition around the central orange flower mass, using thick, direct brushwork to define petal shapes and overlapping leaves. The surrounding plantings include tall purple spires, small white blossoms, and scattered yellow and pink notes set into layered greens. Colour is organised in clear contrasts: orange and purple passages against cool blues and greens, with white trim and window shapes providing structure in the background.
The simplified architecture functions as a stable upper register, while the garden occupies most of the picture plane. From viewing distance the floral forms read as bold blocks of colour; up close, the paint handling and edge work remain visible throughout. The framed presentation offers a finished, ready-to-hang work.

Accessibility Description
A vertical painting shows a dense garden in the foreground with two adjoining houses behind it. The centre and lower middle are filled with a large cluster of orange, lily-like flowers painted in thick strokes, with dark marks suggesting stamens. Around them are tall purple flower spikes and smaller blossoms in white, yellow, pink, and purple scattered through layered green leaves. At the lower left, several white flowers sit against darker greens; at the lower right, small yellow flowers appear among green foliage. In the background, a pale blue house with a steep gable and white-trimmed windows sits beside a deeper violet-blue section with a dark roof and a small dormer window. A white door is visible on the right house, and white window trim repeats across both structures. Trees frame the scene with green foliage on the left edge and a leafy canopy on the upper right. The artist’s signature appears at the lower right.

Artwork Care
CARING FOR YOUR ARTWORK
Display
Hang artwork away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and air vents. UV exposure causes fading over time — UV-protective glazing is recommended for works on paper and photography. Avoid hanging artwork above fireplaces or in bathrooms where heat and humidity fluctuate.
Cleaning
Dust frames gently with a soft, dry cloth. Never use household cleaners, water, or solvents on the artwork surface. For oil paintings, a soft-bristle brush can be used lightly to remove surface dust. Professional cleaning is recommended for valuable or delicate pieces.
Temperature & Humidity
Maintain a stable environment — ideally 18–22°C (65–72°F) with 40–55% relative humidity. Rapid changes in temperature or humidity can cause warping, cracking, or flaking. In Alberta’s dry climate, a humidifier can help protect your collection during winter months.
Handling & Moving
Always handle artwork with clean, dry hands or cotton gloves. Carry framed works by the sides of the frame — never by the hanging wire. When transporting, wrap in acid-free tissue or soft blankets and keep upright. For valuable pieces, professional art handlers and custom crating are recommended.
Storage
Store artwork upright in a cool, dry, dark space. Use acid-free materials for wrapping. Never store artwork in attics, basements, or garages where temperature and humidity are uncontrolled.
Insurance
We recommend insuring your art collection. An up-to-date appraisal (every 2–3 years) ensures proper coverage. West End Gallery offers professional appraisal services — please enquire for details.
