The Upright Shorebird Decoy, by Darren Petersen. The sculpture features a beautiful combination of colours. One side displays a cool palette of whites and light blues, overlaid with a pattern of black speckles, giving it a dappled appearance reminiscent of a speckled bird's egg. On the other side, you can see rich, earthy greens and deep olives accented by a crackled pattern of dark lines and spots. The bird's back and beak smoothly join both sides, with the earthy greens at the base transitioning to a vibrant, almost translucent orange at the tip, adding a striking touch to the overall design. Petersen's unique hot-to-cold water technique creates a crackle glass texture on the surface of the sculpture.
