About the Artwork

Pastel Morning is a 40" × 30" acrylic on canvas painting by Jenna D. Robinson. Jenna is a British Columbian artist whose acrylic landscape paintings draw on mountain and backcountry source material, with particular care and attention to colour, contrast, and changing light of the Canadian Rockies.

This vertical scene of the Three Sisters Mountains presents shoreline of reeds, still water, evergreen slopes, reflected peaks, and pink cloud forms. Reeds appear along the lower edge, followed by a lake surface that reflects the shoreline trees, mountain peaks, and sky. Dark green slopes frame the central peaks, while orange, pale yellow, blue, and white marks define the snow-marked ridges. The reflection repeats the mountain forms in the lower half of the composition, with blue, green, coral, and violet tones across the water.

Accessibility Description

The painting is a vertical landscape with a lake occupying the lower half and mountains in the upper half. The bottom edge includes groups of dark green reeds emerging from bright blue water. Above the reeds, the lake surface reflects the sky, clouds, trees, and mountain peaks. The reflection includes areas of blue, violet, pink, coral, and green. A horizontal band of evergreen trees and shrubs crosses the centre of the canvas, forming the far shoreline. Behind the trees, dark green mountain slopes rise on the left and right. At the centre, snow-marked peaks are painted in orange, pale yellow, blue, and white. The peaks are sharply angled and sit below a blue sky with pink cloud forms. The reflected mountains appear inverted in the lake, with the brightest orange forms near the middle of the water. The canvas has finished black edges visible in the angled view. The artist's signature appears near the lower left corner.

Artwork Care

CARING FOR YOUR ARTWORK

Display
Hang artwork away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and air vents. UV exposure causes fading over time — UV-protective glazing is recommended for works on paper and photography. Avoid hanging artwork above fireplaces or in bathrooms where heat and humidity fluctuate.

Cleaning
Dust frames gently with a soft, dry cloth. Never use household cleaners, water, or solvents on the artwork surface. For oil paintings, a soft-bristle brush can be used lightly to remove surface dust. Professional cleaning is recommended for valuable or delicate pieces.

Temperature & Humidity
Maintain a stable environment — ideally 18–22°C (65–72°F) with 40–55% relative humidity. Rapid changes in temperature or humidity can cause warping, cracking, or flaking. In Alberta’s dry climate, a humidifier can help protect your collection during winter months.

Handling & Moving
Always handle artwork with clean, dry hands or cotton gloves. Carry framed works by the sides of the frame — never by the hanging wire. When transporting, wrap in acid-free tissue or soft blankets and keep upright. For valuable pieces, professional art handlers and custom crating are recommended.

Storage
Store artwork upright in a cool, dry, dark space. Use acid-free materials for wrapping. Never store artwork in attics, basements, or garages where temperature and humidity are uncontrolled.

Insurance
We recommend insuring your art collection. An up-to-date appraisal (every 2–3 years) ensures proper coverage. West End Gallery offers professional appraisal services — please enquire for details.
