Radiant Nights is a 48" × 48" oil painting by Rod Charlesworth (b. 1959) on canvas. The painting presents a lakeside landscape at night, with bands of northern lights moving across a star-filled sky above dark water and shoreline trees.
The composition is framed by tall, slender trees at the left and right edges, their dark trunks and sparse branches describing vertical lines against the sky. Clustered foliage in yellow, orange, red, and green steps upward along the branches, with additional low shrubs and ground cover built from layered strokes across the foreground. The lake occupies the centre in deep blue, with horizontal marks indicating reflected light and surface movement. Across the far shore, a distant treeline appears in blue and purple tones. Above the horizon, broad arcs of pale green and blue sweep through a blue-violet sky dotted with small white stars.

Accessibility Description
This square oil painting shows a lakeside landscape at night beneath the northern lights. The upper half contains a blue-violet sky with many small white dots indicating stars. Broad, pale bands of green and blue arc across the sky in soft curves. Along the horizon, a distant treeline forms a low band in blue and purple. The lake spans the middle of the painting in deep blue, painted with horizontal strokes and lighter marks suggesting reflections. Tall, slender trees rise along the left and right edges with dark trunks and thin, curved branches. Clusters of foliage in yellow, orange, red, and green appear along the branches. The lower edge contains layered strokes of yellow, green, and orange with patches of red and brown describing shrubs, grasses, and rocky ground near the water. No figures or buildings are present.
