About the Artwork
Dinner at the Dub is a 30" × 36" oil painting by Jeongmin Ahn, expertly executed on canvas. Ahn’s practice centres on carefully staged still-life arrangements drawn from everyday consumer culture, rendered with a controlled realism that foregrounds surface, material, and spatial clarity.
The composition presents a cafeteria tray viewed from above, holding branded paper packaging, crumpled wrappers, a small cup of ketchup, and a partially eaten burger. The objects are arranged with deliberate spacing, allowing shadows and edges to articulate depth against the flat orange tray liner. Subtle shifts in colour and value distinguish paper, plastic, metal, and food surfaces, while the restrained background isolates the scene within a tight pictorial field. The work rewards extended viewing.

Accessibility Description
The painting is oriented horizontally. A rectangular cafeteria tray fills most of the image and is viewed from directly above. The tray is dark grey with rounded corners and contains a bright orange paper liner. On the left side of the tray sits a small, round plastic cup filled with red ketchup. Slightly above and to the right of the cup is a folded brown paper bag printed with a black logo.
Near the centre of the tray are crumpled food wrappers in white and green, with small areas of printed text visible. To the right, another brown paper wrapper lies unfolded, its edges slightly creased. At the upper right corner of the tray is a partially visible sandwich or burger, showing a light brown bun, green lettuce, and a hint of red filling. Dark shadows fall beneath several objects, creating clear separations between items.
The background beyond the tray is a deep brown tone, evenly painted and free of additional objects. The surfaces of paper, plastic, and food are rendered with smooth transitions in colour and subtle highlights. No human figures are present. There is no visible text beyond branding printed on the packaging.
