Celestial Dragon is a 60" × 60" mixed media painting on canvas by Annabelle Marquis. The creature’s face emerges from dense layers of colour, pattern, and metallic elements, occupying the pictorial space with authority and precision.
Marquis builds the surface through an intuitive process of collage, acrylic paint, and gold leaf, allowing imagery to surface organically rather than from a predetermined plan. Electric blues and deep ultramarines form the surrounding field, while saturated reds, corals, turquoise, and pinks define the dragon’s body and mane-like extensions.
