Paull Rodrigue

Currently operating out of his glass studio on Hamilton, ON, Paull Rodrigue is a graduate of Sheridan College Institute’s Glass Program in Oakville Ontario. Fluid colours and brilliant transparency highlight the sculptural forms of Paull’s work. An interplay of simple forms, his colours and rhythmic bubbles flow easily into each other, playing off the optic quality of the thick glass. Paull’s works are created using an Italian technique called ‘incalmo,’ where one piece of glass is welded to another, producing ribbons of light.

Paull has been featured in solo and group exhibitions across the country. He has made a significant mark in the Canadian contemporary art glass community with an unrivaled technical proficiency.

"I incorporate ancient processes and traditional techniques with modern technology and design sensibility to create my signature works of art. The creative process stretches far beyond the moment of action at the bench; It is the culmination, the peak of creation, supported by my team of assistants, our combined experience, and a mountain of preparation. When people see my work, I want them to be awe-struck and feel uplifted for having seen it. …the glass is still teaching me lessons and there is still so much to learn. I’m still as awe-struck by the molten glass as I was the first day I touched it in school. … My continued patience has taught me to persevere and entice the glass to work with me. I’m excited to see what my future holds. There is much still to create. It hasn’t been easy nor shall it be, but this glass road upon which I walk has been rewarding and I am grateful to have found my path." -Paull Rodrigue
