Aleksandra's artwork has been available for purchase at the West End Gallery since 2016. Aleksandra Savina was born and raised in Kivy, Ukraine, where she graduated from the Department of Art at the Fine Art School and Teachers College. From there, she worked in her field as a teacher and designer. Moving to Canada in 2005, she and her family split their time between Toronto, ON and Whistler, B.C.
Aleksandra was mesmerized by the vast size and variety of the Canadian landscape, and these landscapes have become a new source of inspiration. Aleksandra also thrives on painting iconic urban environments. Aleksandra has explored cubic forms through her paintings and created an instantly recognizable style. It consists of applying her paint in a very structured and geometric fashion. Aleksandra's paintings are powerful in their sense of balance. Her work appears both abstract and realistic a by creating recognizable imagery through repeating squares and rectangles. Her sense of colour balances subdued black, white and grey fields with a beautiful mix of bright arrays of vibrant hues. The results are fascinating walks through the world's cities and landscapes.
