Gift Certificate Terms and Conditions
Version 2026-07 — last updated July 24, 2026.
These Gift Certificate Terms and Conditions apply to monetary-value Gift Certificates purchased from West End Gallery Ltd. They should be read together with the certificate, the purchaser’s receipt or invoice, our Return & Exchange Policy, and any transaction-specific written terms.
Issuance and Records
A Gift Certificate is issued after the Gallery has received cleared payment. The purchaser will receive a receipt or invoice and should retain it for their records. Each certificate has a unique reference number. The Gallery’s corresponding certificate record is used to confirm the original value, redemptions, and remaining balance.
Currency, Expiry and Fees
- Gift Certificates are issued and redeemed in Canadian dollars.
- Purchased Gift Certificates do not expire.
- No inactivity or dormancy fees are charged, and the balance will not decrease merely because the certificate has not been used.
Permitted Use
Gift Certificates may be applied toward eligible products purchased from West End Gallery Ltd., including applicable sales tax and shipping charges associated with those products. They cannot be used to purchase another Gift Certificate and are not reloadable.
Unless the Gallery agrees otherwise in writing, Gift Certificates cannot be applied to appraisal, consulting, delivery, installation, or other professional service fees.
Partial Payment and Remaining Balances
A Gift Certificate may be used as partial payment when the purchase total exceeds its available balance. The remaining amount may be paid using another payment method accepted by the Gallery. If the purchase total is less than the certificate balance, the unused amount will remain available for a future purchase until fully redeemed.
Cash Redemption, Returns and Exchanges
Gift Certificates are final sale and are not refundable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash except where required by applicable law.
Products purchased using a Gift Certificate remain subject to the Gallery’s Return & Exchange Policy. If the Gallery approves an exchange credit for a product purchased with a Gift Certificate, that credit will be restored to a Gift Certificate or issued as store credit rather than paid in cash, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Gifts, Resale and Transfer
A purchaser may give a Gift Certificate to its intended recipient. A Gift Certificate may not be resold or transferred for value. The Gallery may request the certificate reference number, purchaser or recipient information, proof of purchase, or identification before redemption.
Lost, Stolen, Damaged or Illegible Certificates
The recipient is responsible for safeguarding the certificate and its reference number. Lost, stolen, damaged, altered, duplicated, or illegible certificates may be refused and are not guaranteed to be replaced. If the Gallery elects to replace a certificate after verifying its record and remaining balance, the original certificate will be void.
Verification, Fraud and Payment Reversals
Redemption is subject to verification of the Gallery’s corresponding certificate record and available balance. The Gallery may refuse, suspend, or cancel a certificate that it reasonably believes has been altered, duplicated, obtained or used unlawfully, issued in error, or connected with a declined, reversed, or disputed payment, subject to applicable law.
Balance Enquiries
To confirm a Gift Certificate balance or redemption history, contact West End Gallery Ltd. at (780) 488-4892 or art@westendgalleryltd.com. Please provide the certificate reference number. No fee is charged for a balance enquiry.
Promotional Certificates
A certificate, voucher, or credit issued without purchase for promotional, charitable, loyalty, accommodation, or similar purposes may be subject to separate conditions stated when it is issued. Those instruments may be treated differently from purchased monetary-value Gift Certificates under applicable law.
Applicable Law and Policy Updates
These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Nothing in these terms limits a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded. The terms disclosed when a Gift Certificate is purchased apply to that certificate. A later policy update will not reduce its recorded balance, impose an expiry date or inactivity fee, or remove rights provided by applicable law.
