Fine art appraisals serve several important purposes:
- Insurance: Establish accurate replacement value for proper coverage.
- Donation: Meet tax requirements for contributions to non-profits.
- Estate Planning: Determine fair market value for distribution or sale.
- Collection Management: Track the evolving value of your art investments.
We typically recommend appraisals for artwork or collections valued over $2,500. For tax purposes, donations exceeding $5,000 may also require appraisals.
We recommend updating your appraisals every 2–3 years as market values fluctuate. Significant changes in the art market or adding new works to your collection may warrant an earlier update to ensure accuracy.
