Dancing Light by Jenna D. Robinson
Dancing Light, Robinson's solo art show at the West End Gallery in Edmonton, guides viewers past the mountains of her youth, the Canadian Rockies. Although, as a child, Robinson grew up in Golden, BC, in the footstep of iconic lakes and mountains such as Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, the Three Sisters and Mount Rundle. Robinson now resides on the BC coast and often returns to recreate in the mountains and collect reference photos for painting; they were, after all, her source of inspiration.
Robinson paints in a bold, realistic style that borders slightly abstract as she enhances contrast and colour saturation. She is mesmerized by scenes where the light drapes the land in brilliant highlights and deep shadows. When she isn't painting or playing in the mountains with her puppy, Wren, you can find her teaching elementary school part-time somewhere in Squamish, BC.
