Dr. Bonnie Henry!

What an incredible opening weekend for Elaine Brewer-White and Mary Ann Laing! We would like to thank everyone who attended the exhibition opening; it was our first with artists in attendance since reopening to the public earlier this summer. We would also like to mention how much our staff appreciated visitors adorning masks before entering the gallery.

One of the major highlights was showing Dr. Henry, the ceramic sculpture Elaine Brewer-White made in her likeness! What a moment!

Mary Ann Laing painted a fantastic collection of oil paintings reminiscent of her travels on Vancouver Island. The combination of Mary Ann's paintings and Elaine's sculptures has genuinely transformed our gallery! If you missed the opening, please visit us soon! This collection will be up until October 14, 2020.

In the concept sketches, we see the genesis of her vision—clusters of peonies rendered in loose, confident strokes. These initial marks are the seeds from which the full bloom of the diptych would grow.
