Lois Scott
Working in glass as her primary medium for over 10 years Lois’s works range from delicate hand held pieces to large outdoor installations. Utilizing an amalgam of processes including; hot worked glass, carving, etching and polishing, Lois’s sculptural blown works are a manifestation of constructive/destructive forces. Thick and architectural, the works are minimal in form. Deeply carving and sculpting the surfaces allows for a landscape of visual and tactile interaction. The glass is shaped while hot and carved after some time has elapsed so that the temperature has cooled to the correct range. Lois carves each work randomly, following natural patterns in the glass and her own sense of whimsy.
