Joanne Gauthier

Joanne Gauthier was born in Trois-Rivières, Québec in 1962 and studied Decorative Arts at the Cégep de Trois-Rivières. Her unique style involves applying acrylic paste to the canvas, carving into it, and using water-based paint coats to build colour. The final coat consists of oil paint mixed with varnish, creating bold colours with a glass-like quality. Joanne's work features radiant colours, floral patterns, and arabesques that lend it an art nouveau flavour with a vibrant spirit. She is inspired by nature, women's status, and a passion to "open up the path of the soul." Her art achieves inner reflection and outer harmony with brilliant colour and lyrical imagery.
