Glen Semple, born in 1960 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, pursued his passion for art from a young age. He honed his skills at Red Deer College before graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Calgary in 1984. Now based in Calgary, Semple is known for his meticulous attention to detail and his ability to create vivid, light-filled images that blend surreal colour with captivating textures. His work is characterized by dream-like compositions that invite viewers into a world of visual wonder.

Artist’s Statement

"I like to paint objects that intrigue me. The transparency of glass, the reflections, and the distortions caused by water fascinate me. Vibrant flowers, the energy of nature, and the playful essence of everyday 'stuff' often find their way onto my canvas. I'm drawn to complex details and fragments of larger images. While I continue to explore my usual themes, I'm also focused on creating paintings that highlight the small, isolated parts—the little bits that might otherwise go unnoticed."
