WHAT DOES MY APPRAISAL INCLUDE?
Our appraisal provides an itemized description and valuation for each piece. It’s designed for insurance purposes, providing an objective replacement value based on market value.
HOW OFTE SHOULD I UPDATE MY APPRAISALS?
It's generally recomended updating art appraisals every 2 years, as market values can fluctuate. However, if there are significant changes in the art market or if you add new works to your collection, you may wish to update sooner to ensure accuracy.
WHAT IF I HAVE LIMITED INFORMATION ON SOME PIECES
While it’s ideal to have receipts or provenance, we can still conduct an appraisal based on available information and our own market research. Please note that we do not authenticate artwork.
HOW MUCH DOES AN APPRAISAL COST AND WHAT FACTORS INFLUENCE THE PRICE?
Appraisal fees are typically based on the number of pieces and the scope of work required. Complex or extensive collections may incur higher fees, while smaller, straightforward appraisals or appraisal updates are more cost-effective. Feel free to reach out for a tailored quote.
HOW LONG DOES THE APPRAISAL PROCESS TAKE
Depending on the collection size, most appraisals are completed within 1-2 weeks. We’ll keep you informed throughout the process and notify you of any delays, especially if additional research is required.
HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THE VALUE OF EACH PIECE?
We rely on a combination of public and private auction records, current retail value for living artists, and our in-depth knowledge of the Canadian art market for deceased artists. For works sold directly by West End Gallery, we also reference past sales data. Each valuation reflects our objective analysis.
