Collage: A Defining Technique

Marquis’s approach to collage sets her work apart. She skillfully brings together different materials and textures, layering them in a way that gives each piece depth and invites exploration. In Miroir Sur Notre histoire, for example, she includes two figures. The one on the left comes from Berthe Morisot’s Le Berceau, while the figure on the right is drawn from Paul Cézanne’s Portrait of Ambroise Vollard. These historical characters become part of the landscape, as though they’ve always belonged there. Marquis doesn’t push these references forward—they’re quietly placed, allowing you to reflect and discover them on your own.
