Across the pale blue-grey upper field, small pink and yellow forms appear through the paint, some barely visible, others edged in dark green. The marks become fuller and more closely packed as the eye moves downward, until coral pinks, olive greens and inky blues form a loose band along the base. There is no hard line between the open space above and the denser passage below; stray marks carry colour back and forth across the square canvas.

Up close, the surface is as varied as the composition: fine drawn lines meet scraped patches and raised strokes of paint. Forms seem to come into focus and then slip back into the pale ground, giving this quiet arrangement its visual movement.

Dimensions and Details

Title: Le Chant de l etang

Artist: Ilinca Ghibu

Size: 40" × 40" × 1.5" (101.6 × 101.6 × 3.8 cm)

Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

Surface: Canvas

Display: Artist framed; frame included.
