Tara Marsh

Tara Marsh was born and raised in rural Ontario, instilling in her a love for the outdoors and nature. Her success in the Art Fundamentals program at the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning encouraged her curiosity in the exploration of a new art form in the glass studio. After completing three years in the glass program at Sheridan College, Tara began at a co-operative studio called Glen Williams Glass. Her new studio allows her to continue creating in this challenging medium, along with six other professional glass artists. Her works range from blown goblets and sculptural component work to large sand castings and intricate flameworked glass jewelry. Her attention to detail and love of experimenting show the true passion she has for her chosen medium.

The creative process in my art pieces begins by brainstorming; using the textures, colours and forms of nature as well as looking at artwork from the past and present. There is a saying by John Opie that states ‘Art is more godlike than science. Science discovers; art creates’. Working with glass is a science, you never stop discovering the intricate characteristics of glass. In spite of being able to understand and control it, the art pieces are often unique and unpredictable. I have developed a love for the medium of glass and continually strive to improve my skills.
