Sunlight through leaves, pathways leading to rocky shores and shadows dappling the earth tease forth memories and feelings of Bev Rodin’s personal experience. From when she was a child spending time at her grandparents’ homestead in Saskatchewan to nowadays residing with her family in northern Ontario, Bev’s expressive paintings celebrate the joy, beauty and moods of landscape.
Living in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, northern Quebec and Colorado have all shown her the exceptional variety, magnitude and ruggedness that landscape has to offer. Bev’s vivid interest in water and the aesthetic beauty of pattern and geometry in nature can be easily seen by the viewer. Her paintings tend to concentrate upon the ever-changing illusions of light both through and onto surfaces and natural forms within the landscape.
Bev received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan, a Masters from Norwich University and a PhD from the University of Toronto. Her strong background in design and colour was further emphasized in her watercolour, drawing and painting studies with other well-known artists.
